Solar Credits
"Solar Credits" is the Australian government's latest solar subsidy for homeowners, businesses and community groups. It was passed into law on 20th August 2009.
The Govt subsidizes the cost of installing a Solar Power System and unlike the scheme before it (which was means-tested at a household income of $100,000) this subsidy is not means tested in any way
Solar panel efficiency is the ratio (as a percentage) of: energy in the sunlight hitting the panel area - to - electrical energy in the wires coming out of the panel.
The more Watts of electricity collected per volume of material in the solar panel, the higher the efficiency the lower the cost.
Some panel types cost more to manufacture than others and can turn out to be more expensive that other types with a lower efficiency. For the lowest you would look at the Watts-per-dollar figure.
The advantage of higher efficiency panels, the higher the efficiency, the smaller the panel required. Where roof space is at a premium, look for higher efficiency panels.
