Free Ceiling Insulation 
The Australian Federal Government's Energy Efficient Homes Package is a $4 billion package to improve the energy rating of Australian homes - cutting their energy waste, making them more comfortable and helping home owners save up to 40 per cent on their electricity bills.
Up to $1,600 for owner-occupiers to install ceiling insulation in their existing privately-owned place of residence, through the Homeowner Insulation Program.

Time frame - The full program is in effect from 1 July 2009 and will run until 31 December 2011.or with notice from the government through budgetary restraints.

Your Eligibility Checklist
- You're a home owner, over 18 and an Australian citizen
- If a tenant you require evidence of the landlord’s permission to install ceiling insulation (e.g. a letter from the landlord or agent giving permission to install ceiling insulation, and authorising you to sign the work order form); and
- An individual (not, for example, a company or other organisation)
- Don't already have ceiling insulation or you have ceiling insulation that is deemed as having negligible effectiveness (that is, ceiling insulation with very little or no insulation) if this needs to be removed there may be a minimal cost to remove
Audit and Compliance Program
If any installation is found to be substandard in any way, the householder will be provided with information about how to seek remediation through the installer.
