
Energy Efficiency for Small Business Program NSW
The Energy Efficiency for Small Business Program is available to businesses that use up to approximately $20,000 in electricity a year or have up to approximately 10 employees.
The program offers:
· a subsidised personalised energy assessment and action plan
· a 50% rebate of up to $5,000 for businesses that use $5,000-$20,000 a year in electricity and $2,000 for businesses that use less than $5,000 a year in electricity.
Energy assessment
Businesses pay only $50 to the assessor at the time of the assessment and receive a personalised energy assessment and action plan. The balance (either $100 or $250, depending on annual electricity use) is deducted from the rebate.
Rebate
The rebate is for implementing energy efficiency improvements as outlined in your action plan, including:
- lighting and skylights
- heating, ventilation,air-conditioning and insulation
- electric motors
- air compressors
- commercial refrigeration
- boilers
- insulation
- hot water systems.
The rebate is only available for items with a payback period of greater than 2 years.
The Energy Efficiency for Small Business Program is part of the NSW Government's $150 million Energy Efficiency Strategy. This strategy is helping NSW households, government and business save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Energy Efficiency for Small Business Program
This $15-million program will provide on-site advice for 6000 small and medium businesses. It will offer rebates to assist measures such as lighting upgrades and improvements to air-conditioning and refrigeration. As a result, the average small business is expected to save $7850 on power bills over 10 years.
